Wedding FAQ’s

Wedding Frequently Asked Questions

We get a lot of the same questions asked to us about the wedding day and how it all works. So on this page we have tried to answer these questions for you. But if we didn’t answer your question here, just send us an email and we will answer the questions right away.

****

Who will be the actual photographer on the day?

Adam Cavanagh.

****

Will you hold a date while we decide?

Sorry, we are unable to hold a date without a non-refundable retainer. Our services are provided on a first come, first serve basis and we generally have bookings a year in advance.

****

Are you a full time photographer?

Yes.

****

Are you a member of the AIPP?

Yes Adam is a fully accredited member of the AIPP.

****

How much does it cost to commission you to shoot our wedding?

Please use the ‘contact’ form and we will send you our price list.

****

Do you shoot family photos at the wedding?

Yes we do.

If you have a list of family photos you want taken, we find it’s best to give this list to an extroverted (loud) family member who knows who every one is and can round them up. Family photo examples and tips.

****

Can we give you a shot list of photos we want?

You can, but we don’t work off a shot list throughout the day. It really hampers our creativity and we would most probably miss important moments as we would be looking at the list all day instead of what is happening in front of us. We work very candidly throughout the day so working off a list is not really our style. But if there is a certain photo you want with someone, definitely let us know.

****

How much time do we need for location photography?

Ideally 60-90mins is a good amount of time. Just remember to factor in travel time.

****

At the reception, do you do ‘table shots’ of people?

If you’d like photos of each guest at their table at the reception then just let us know and we’ll do our best to photograph them. But we cannot guarantee to get every guest… especially if you have a lot of guests or the tables are really cramped and we cannot get around. And just remember that if we’re taking posed photos of your guests all night we can miss some of the really awesome candid moments at a wedding.

If you want photos of each guest, one of the best ways is to hire a Photobooth. Photobooths normally give two copies of the photos… one copy gets stuck in a book and your guests write you a short message next to the photo. And the other copy your guests keep:)

****

Do you shoot with film or digital cameras?

We shoot with Canon Digital SLR’s

****

How many photos do we get?

You get between 600 – 800 images from the day depending on what sort of coverage you have for the day.

****

Do we get every single photo that you take on the day?

Pretty much. I do delete some photos… blurred, test shots, bad exposure, people blinking… basically the crap shots:)

****

Do you include high resolution images on disc in your package?

Yes. So with the disc, you will be able print photos for your family and friends at any photo lab.

****

Do you retouch all the photos that we get?

Yes and no. The photos you see on the website are what you get. They are given overall tonal adjustments and some are converted to black & white. We do not do digital effects that are not considered  ’darkroom techniques’, like removing objects, making people thinner, smoothing skin etc.

****

Can we tell you how we want the photos retouched?

No. The style of photos you see on the website is what you get and is our interpretation of how that image should look.

****

Do you include 6×4 prints of all the images in your package?

No. This idea of giving you 6×4 prints of your images came from the film days when your only option to see your photos was to actually see photos. This is the digital age, so this is not something we include.

****

Do you do engagement photography?

Yes we do. Please contact us for rates.

****

We don’t want full wedding coverage.  We are only after a few hours. Are you able to taylor something to suit are needs?

Yes & no. For any weddings on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday you need to book our “Wedding Day Coverage” to get us. If you are only booking a couple of months out we may be able to do something if we are available.

****

Have you shot weddings from other cultures?

Yes. We’ve shot a huge variety of weddings: English, Irish, Scottish, South African, Americans, Jewish, Kiwi, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Singaporean, Honk Hong, Vietnamese, Filipino, Chilean, Lebanese, Italian, Greek, Afganistan, Indian, Indian Sikh. And hopefully many more as we love experiencing different cultures.

****

Are you insured?

Absolutely!

****

Can we meet with you to discuss our wedding?

Sure:)

We are based on the Central Coast of NSW and we conduct meetings here at our home office during the week. Weekend meetings are really hard for us as we are generally out shooting.

Most Sydney & international couples either chat with us on the phone or over Skype.

****

How do we book you?

We just need you to fill out a booking form and we require a $1,000 non-refundable retainer to secure your date.

****

Should we provide you with a meal at the reception?

Wedding days are very long days, so a service meal at the reception is required and greatly appreciated  for half reception and full reception coverage. A meal is not required if we are not doing reception coverage.

****

How long before we get our photos from the wedding?

The turnaround time is approximately four to six weeks.

****

How does the album design work if we want an album?

Once you pick the style of album you want we will predesign the album for you. You get to proof the design online and then we just make changes till you are totally happy with the design.

****

How long before we get our album?

Once the album has been designed and approved by you, the album will take approximately six weeks to be made.

****

Do you offer videography?

No we don’t. We use the same cameras that the top videographers use, but we specialise in photography only. We would rather do one thing really really well as opposed to doing two things well… if you know what I mean;)
