How to Choose a Wedding Celebrant

Choosing a celebrant for your wedding ceremony can be a difficult task. Because it’s not like you can audition them for your wedding and see who does the best job. And like a lot of wedding vendors, I have seen some terrible wedding celebrants, a lot of adequate celebrants and just a few wonderful professionals who were amazing. One of these wonderful professionals is Baron Gold and I asked him for some advice to give couples on how to choose a wedding celebrant and here is what he said:

Tips for couples when choosing a wedding celebrant

1.       Choose the celebrant you feel relaxed with.  Your relationship should be warm and comfortable.

2.       Ensure the celebrant allows you to choose the ceremony you want – not the other way around.

3.       Your celebrant must have excellent communication skills. They must inform you of what has to be done and listen to your ideas.

4.       You need to trust your celebrant to know all the legal implications for your wedding and must be familiar with your specific wedding requirements.

5.       Your celebrant will need to work with and be flexible with other wedding professionals such as photographers, wedding planners, your wedding party and your parents.

Jill havens - Really good article. I went to a wedding once where the celebrant just stumbled through the ceremony and it was really awkward for the couple. Which was really sad.
